Kochi is synonymous with seafood, brought to the region on the warm Kuroshio Current. Try rich bonito, delicate sea bream and succulent shellfish.

SEAFOOD

Fishing has a long tradition in Kochi, which has 700 kilometers of coastline on the Pacific Ocean. The warm Kuroshio Current brings an abundance of fish, including bonito (katsuo), one of Kochi’s most famous catches. Other important catches include red sea bream, bluefin tuna and Japanese amberjack. Kochi’s clear rivers yield eel and freshwater shrimp.
